The Floating Kitchen 901 (coming soon)
Couture Cares "The Floating Kitchen 901" aspires to build communities that embrace healthy cooking, healthy eating and celebration of culture. The Floating Kitchen 901 provides children and families cooking and nutrition education to encourage healthy habits that contribute to wellness. We will equip under-resourced communities with information to make affordable, nutritious and appealing food choices wherever they live, work, learn, and play. We know that food is rooted in culture and tradition so we promote diversity in our lessons and recipes, encouraging our participants to celebrate the world around them.
Couture Cares prepares youth to meet the challenges of adolescence and young adulthood through a coordinated, progressive series of high-quality activities and learning experiences that help them to achieve social, emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being. Girls participate in mentoring, giving back, and enrichment activities as they gain the ability to lead themselves and others on a course of action. They also gain the ability to analyze their own strengths and weaknesses, set personal and vocational goals, and have the self-confidence and self-esteem to pursue and achieve their goals.
“MY 1st SUIT” is a collaboration with Men of Memphis, Building Blocks Mentoring Program and Couture Cares for 15 to 25 high school seniors (young men) from different high schools in the Memphis area. In order for the seniors to receive these items, they must meet certain academic and behavior expectations. The main goal of this suit drive is to help provide the young men with their first suit for their prom, graduation or even a potential job interview.
