Linda Grayson Jones Memorial Scholarship

 Davina Jones: Couture Cares’ Executive Director, along with family and friends is honored to announce the establishment of the

Linda Grayson Jones Memorial Scholarship. 

 

 Mrs. Linda Grayson Jones was a passionate and dedicated educator, whose career spanned more than 33 years. She became interested in the field of Education and attended Mississippi Industrial College in Holly Springs, Mississippi. Mrs. Jones continued to pursue her dream of becoming an educator and transferred to Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, Mississippi, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Education.  She continued her educational studies at Memphis State University where she obtained her Master of Education Degree. Mrs. Jones began her teaching career in 1970 with Memphis City Schools in Tennessee, where she remained a devoted and committed educator until her retirement in 2003.

Mrs. Linda Grayson Jones passed away in November 2019. Her family and friends funded this annual memorial scholarship to ensure that her legacy and commitment to education is continued for years to come by supporting the next generation of educators. 

This scholarship fund was created for sophomore and junior college students who are current Education majors and enrolled in a four-year accredited institution.

Award of Scholarship: Two scholarships up to $1,250.00.

Eligibility  Requirements: 

​

  1. Must be in good standing and currently attending an accredited college or university

  2. Provide proof of transcript of courses from college or university

  3. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 grade point average (or C average)

  4. Applicants must have 20 hours of community service involvement (Letter required) 

  5. Applicant must submit a ONE minute video to include:

  • Your plan on how to become a beacon of light in the community using the training and knowledge obtained in your education experience. 

  • Articulate your community service involvement and your philosophy on giving back to others.
